The 2025 Skoda Karoq line-up has expanded in Australia with a front-wheel drive version of the Sportline – and a new Select badge for the most affordable grade.
In line with the recent addition of Select variants for Skoda's Kamiq and Fabia, the eponymous Karoq entry-level model introduced in late 2023 is now known as the Karoq Select, which now retails for $40,990 drive-away – a $1000 increase over the previous model.
It adds standard metallic paint – a $770 cost option on the last version – and advanced driver fatigue detection for the new model year.
A front-wheel-drive Sportline variant has been introduced as a replacement for the Style at $46,990 drive-away – $1400 more than the model it replaces but with $6500 worth of additional equipment, according to the brand.
It is equipped with a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine shared with the base Select – and other Volkswagen Group models such as the VW Golf hatch – paired to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
Skoda claims the 1.4-litre turbo in the Karoq has “among the lowest fuel consumption and highest torque of two-wheel drive medium SUVs” – although it doesn’t deliver the fuel savings or higher torque of some front-drive hybrid rivals like the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage.
Combined fuel consumption for 1.4-litre Karoq variants is rated at 6.6L/100km.
New features for the Sportline compared to the Style it replaces include larger 19-inch alloy wheels, a sports body kit, matrix LED headlights, adaptive high-beam, LED cabin lights, ambient lighting, heated front and rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
It also adds LED puddle lamps, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, ‘sports comfort’ front seats, alloy pedal covers, black headlining, traffic jam assist to operate the brake and accelerator in low-speed conditions, adaptive lane guidance to keep the vehicle in the middle of the lane, and emergency assist to slow the vehicle if the driver becomes incapacitated.
Skoda Australia does not offer equipment packages for the new Karoq Sportline FWD – while the now-superseded Style was available with several options such as a $10,900 Premium Pack, $5700 Tech Pack, or $4700 Leather Seats Pack.
Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive Karoq Sportline – fitted with a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic – is now priced at $57,990 drive-away, up $5500 from before.
However it now includes equipment previously limited to option packs including adaptive suspension, a progressive steering ratio, a larger 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, built-in satellite navigation, a 10-speaker Canton audio system, hill descent control, heated windscreen washer nozzles, automatic parking, and a 360-degree camera.
The Sportline AWD also includes new equipment shared with the FWD version such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive lane guidance, and emergency assist.
A $4000 Signature Pack – only available for the Sportline AWD – adds leather-accented upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a memory function for the driver’s seat, and upgraded exterior mirrors with memory and reverse auto-dipping functions.
The Signature Pack option replaces the $3600 Leather Seats Pack from the previous Karoq Sportline AWD.
A $1900 panoramic sunroof option is also available for the Sportline AWD – but not the FWD version.
Like all Skoda models, the Karoq is backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty – one of the longest in the car industry, and the only European manufacturer offering seven years of coverage as standard, with servicing required every 12 months or 15,000km.
The 2025 Skoda Karoq is in showrooms now.
