Yes, students apply Coalition via the Scoir platform. We've discontinued our use of our previous technology platform.

Can you use both the Common App and Coalition? ›

Yes, students may use both the Common App and the Coalition App to apply for college at the same time. However, colleges only accept one application per student.

How does a coalition application work? ›

The Coalition Application is a college application designed to make it easier to apply to multiple colleges. Instead of filling out each school's application individually, you can complete the Coalition App, and that information will be filled in for all the colleges you're applying to (that use the Coalition App).

Do colleges prefer common apps or coalitions? ›

Colleges and universities that accept both do not prefer one over the other, so it's completely up to you. Another consideration is access to financial aid. Remember that the Coalition Application specifically partners with schools that provide generous financial aid packages and/or low-cost tuition.

How much does the coalition application cost? ›

Both the Common App and the Coalition Application are free to use. If a college requires an application fee, then students will need to pay the application fee to the school when they submit their college applications.

Is coalition application Scoir? ›

We've integrated our application process within Scoir, software that many students and counselors use every day. Students can apply to participating Coalition schools directly from their Scoir account, which is free for any student to create.

What is the maximum colleges on the coalition app? ›

The Coalition Application was created to make it easier for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds to apply to college. The Common App allows you to apply to only 20 colleges, whereas the Coalition Application has no limits.

Does UCLA use Common App or coalition? ›

The UC system has its own application and does not participate in the Common Application or the Coalition Application. Rather than just one personal statement, the University of California system requires four essays between 250 and 350 words in length.

Is it better to apply through the Common App or directly? ›

Con: It's Easy to Overdo It

It's important to still do your research and apply to colleges that align with your needs and goals. On the other hand, don't avoid applying to colleges that don't accept the Common App just because it may be more difficult or time consuming.

What is the coalition account ID? ›

Once you register, you will receive a permanent ID number, called the Coalition CBO ID or CCID. Eligible organizations are nonprofit, provide support services to students (preK-14), and/or directly advise students in their college search.

On the other hand, the Coalition App (powered by Scoir) gives you a higher character count to write a more detailed description of each activity on your list.
