Martha -- this was a tasty and easy dish that really pleased the picky eater in our family -- one we will definitely have again. Easy on the budget, too!I do think the amount of cornstarch may be a little high -- when I added it, my beef mixture turned into a clump, and I could really taste the cornstarch -- so I thinned it back out with some additional soy sauce & water.

Very good, solid comfort dish. I left out the onion rings for reasons of fat. It's good over toasted English muffins too. Canned beans work in place of the frozen ones. Goes well with corn bread.

Good, hearty food. Tastes good on a winter day. And it is so simple to prepare. I used 1/2 of a red onion and lots of extra garlic. No problem with the cornstarch here. I served with rice and onion rings. Thanks.

Had a pound of ground beef and was looking for something quick & easy to do with it since it was getting well past the 'sell by' date. Found this recipe, and SO glad I did! The only change I made was to use the 'juice' from the meat/green bean mixture to mix with the cornstarch instead of water -- retained the taste of the dish without adding extra liquid and a cornstarch taste. I'll definitely make this again. Thank you for posting!

This was a very eaasy meal to prepare but I agree with others there seemed to be something missing. It is good for a fast meal though! Thanks

Instead of water I used 1 can of beef broth, and added 2 tbsp of brown sugar, and one extra tbsp of soy sauce. I also used fresh green beans instead of frozen, and boiled a little longer for the beans to cook. Since the sauce thickened on its own while boiling, I ditched the corn starch. I served over rice with sesame seeds and crushed red pepper. Perfecto!

Much tastier than I anticipated. A great week night meal to pull together quickly. I used fresh green beans and threw in a couple of sliced carrots; simmering for 15 - 20 mins they're still full of flavour. Used arrowroot powder in place of cornstarch and it blended well. No onion rings on this dish, thanks just the same.

(As many of you know Silent Cricket passed away on Feb. 29. Since she loved Recipezaar so much and so many on Recipezaar have shown their love for her, and have enjoyed her recipes, her personal information will remain here indefinitely just as she wrote it. Her lines at the end of this section sound somewhat prophetic as the last chapter of her earthly existence has been written.)Well, the time has come for me to change my users' name. After being, "OzCoMartha" because of having lived for three years in Australia and then moving to Colorado, I have decided to "turn over a new leaf." I chose this name because many moons ago I used to be able to "chirp" like a cricket and the "silent" refers to the present time when I'm taking a break...But, perhaps after a season, however long I decide that needs to be, I may be back and then I will fill in more details about myself...
