In an inaugural blog post for the Stanford Center for Responsible Quantum Technology, Mauritz Kop, founder and executive director of Stanford RQT, interviews Alexandra Waldherr, now in her first year as RQT fellow. She breaks down what lead her on her journey to Stanford RQT and to the field of responsible quantum technology, and details the latest research findings of her RQT Project, named Quantum Hardware, Simulation and Education. https://lnkd.in/g2qgCYP6

One of the things we don't get to shout about very often are the reports we create with public sector organisations, on the impact of their work advancing new technologies. A lot don't get made public, but here's a great example for The National Physical Laboratory’s Quantum Technologies Programme: https://lnkd.in/gwxta6UQ

It is exciting to see that 2025 will be the International Year of Quantum. The second quantum revolution (the first giving us silicon based computers) will change all aspects of our lives. Great to see it given the prominence it deserves. https://lnkd.in/g9kMiP6t

A software system developed by Vanderbilt University researchers to help improve operations of Nashville’s public transportation network recently won 🏆 “Best Paper” at the 15th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Cyber-Physical Systems (ICCPS), held in Hong Kong.Currently, WeGo Nashville has 160 buses 🚌 that cover 35 routes. However, its ridership is steadily increasing 📈, leading to higher chances of disruptions like overcrowding, mechanical failures, and accidents. To address the problems, Abhishek Dubey, associate professor of computer science and electrical and computer engineering, and his team designed a cloud-based ☁️ tool called Vectura that incorporates artificial intelligence 🤖 to provide insights into passenger flows, service delays, and the operational efficiency of WeGo service, which is testing the technology.Read more: https://lnkd.in/e9vPdXFG

Double feature! 🎉I'm delighted to share our two latest preprints, addressing key challenges in Quantum Key Distribution:🔹 In arXiv:2406.08544, we present an efficient method for calculating secure key rates for high-dimensional QKD protocols, inspired by entanglement-witness theory. This tool helps us explore improved noise resistance in high-dimensional protocols!🔹 In arXiv:2406.14610, we extend a discrete modulated continuous-variable QKD protocol to a multi-user scenario and analyze its security in the asymptotic limit. Our findings indicate that DM CV-QKD is a strong candidate for urban-area quantum networks!Check them out!https://lnkd.in/d75_E5EEhttps://lnkd.in/di8Fnm_c
