X-Men '97 executive producer Brad Winderbaum teased that Marvel Studios has plans for X-Men '97 Season 2. Before this, Winderbaum conveyed that Season 3 is already in development, professing that just like X-Men: The Animated Series drafted "so heavily from Chris Claremont's work," the production team is continuing that.
In a recent interview with The Official Marvel Podcast (via ComicBookMovie.com), Winderbaum was asked if there was anything there that he thought people should keep an eye out for as they've "just finished watching it," to which he replied, "We've got big plans for the second season.I've already seen all the animatics and we're well on our way to creating something that hits the heights of the first season. I know the first season is an emotional ride; that ride continues in a very X-Men fashion in the second season."

Tying into this, Rogue actor Lenore Zann teased Rogue's Season 2 storyline, commenting that there are Easter eggs in there for "fans to follow up." She went on to further note, "In Season 2, I have already recorded Season 2, and I love Rogue's journey. She is continuing on her journey, and she wants justice for Remy [LeBeau/Gambit], and she won't let anything or anybody stop her."
"We've got big plans for the second season."
Putting the spotlight on X-Men '97 itself, Winderbaum revealed Marvel President and CCO Kevin Feige's two conditions for X-Men '97 becoming a reality, recalling, "Following the success of What If…?, when we were able to make more animated shows, [X-Men '97] was my first idea out of the box. And Kevin [Feige] was like, 'Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let's do it.' And fortunately, we were able to do that." Prior to this, series consultant Eric Lewald delved into Marvel obtaining the rights to the X-Men: The Animated Series theme song, asserting in 2022 that the song "wasn't a done deal necessarily" when Marvel was producing X-Men '97.

X-Men '97 Embraces Special Cameos
Besides that, X-Men: The Animated Series director Larry Houston sang the praises of X-Men '97's cameo-based legacy, affirming that it was fun to see "[his] unauthorized use of cameos fully embraced by the highly-talented X-Men '97 team, albeit now with full official clearances." Additionally, production head and director Jake Castorena teased more Marvel cameos in upcoming episodes, remarking, "On our end, it was mostly nothing but encouragement [from Marvel Studios]. Cameos [are] in the DNA of the show. That's been ingrained from day one, that goes down to what the OG show did, right?" As of now, plot details for Season 2 and Season 3 are under wraps.
